Technology for technology’s sake

Today I received an email from a marketing company asking if I wanted some e-cards made up for Christmas.

We use the latest technology – combined with award-winning design – to create a bespoke Flash e-card for your company, and send out a personalised e-mail to all of your contacts to wish them seasons greetings.

It’s cutting edge, cost effective and much greener than the traditional printed variety.

Yeah I’d love you to gather all my business associates’ addresses, send them a cutting-edge/ unopenable/ download-latest-version-of-flash-please Christmas card. I’m sure they’ll think me really with the technology if they get a cutting edge card. Much better than a nice paper one with charity proceeds and hand written signatures that decorates the office.
